Katie's not the only kid branching out, learning new things and broadening her horizons. Michael has had quite a week, as well. Just today, an outside firm brought ponies, chicks, rabbits, and other friendly farm animals to Michael's preschool for their own petting zoo experience. I haven't received a picture from his teacher of the pony ride yet (his first!), but here he is loving the ducklings. Check out that cute face, full of wonder!
Speaking of farm animals, the two younger kids went out to Frying Pan Park earlier in the week to see all of the new spring babies. Frying Pan Park is basically a working farm, so there were all kinds of new piglets, goat kids, chicks, lambs, ducklings, and calves. The kids were especially enthralled by these several-days-old piglets relentlessly nursing from their mom. (Talk about somebody that deserves a big Mother's Day gift!!)
Of course, we couldn't leave the farm without a treat for Michael and Nevie. I swear, they totally colluded on getting these things before lunchtime. Don't tell Katie!!
And, finally, Michael had his first play date with a preschool buddy! (He's had play dates before with kids of some of my mom friends, but this was the first one with a relatively unknown entity. Because it was our first time with them, I didn't pull out my camera...didn't want to freak anybody out!!) He chose a buddy that he's talked about a lot, Landon. Coincidentally, Landon's older sister was in Katie's preschool class, so I at least knew his mom a little. We decided to meet at a playground so that the kids could just run around. Everything went really well, so hopefully there will be many more dates to come!! Our little guy is really blossoming now!
