Sitting Pretty

Now that she has started sitting while supported by pillows or cushions, Katie has taken over her dad's favorite spot in front of the TV. However, she can only stand to stay in this position for about five minutes. If only we could say the same for Daddy....

Sunday Swing

Although most of the weekend was dedicated to painting the 1/2 bathroom, we couldn't resist getting outside for a few moments to enjoy the weather today. Here, Katie enjoys a swing ride on the back deck. She really seems to enjoy the warm breeze, swaying trees, and birds. Now, if we just had enough room for a hammock for her dad!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Finally...Baby Kate has found a gal pal to hang with! The gorgeous babe on the right is Libby, 3.5 month-old daughter of Karen and Will. She was born a mere 10 days after Katie. It's fun to see them together because they mirror each other in temperament, developmental skill, and even the sound of their cries.

Katie thanks Libby for letting her borrow her toys and "crack swing" for awhile! However, she apologizes for having a pooh-splosion all over Libby's changing table. We're going to have to teach our daughter how to be a gracious guest for next time....

Sweatin' With the Newbies

Katie & Mom attended their first "Mommy & Me" Yoga class today. We learned a cool combination of adult yoga, baby stretches, and baby massage. (Kate had the most fun just staring at other infants.) Of course our little fashionista had to do her downward-facing dogs in her brand-new, hip Reebok sweats. We'll try to get a picture at class next week!

Sibling Scuffle

We're not sure if you can see the pink scratch above Katie's right eyebrow, but it is the result of her first traumatic run-in with her hound sibling, Geno. No - our sweet, gentle G did not suddenly turn Rambo on Katie. Both were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Katie was laying on one of her favorite spots (diaper changing station in living room) when Geno suddenly got a rare burst of adrenaline. He picked up one his toys, threw it in the air, pounced, and, unfortunately, nicked Katie in the face. After a stunned second, Katie let out the most horrible high-pitched scream of her life...

Two minutes later she forgot that it had ever happened. The two now live happily ever after.

Hmmm...Now What Are These?

Katie's newest discovery/obsession??? Her feet and toes! Just over the past couple days, Katie has become so entranced by her feet that she has forgotten about all of her other toys. She's not quite limber enough to put them in her mouth yet, but we're sure that's coming soon. In other developmental news, she's getting oh-so-close to rolling over (feet fly in the air, but gravity hasn't done its job yet); and she has added many new sounds to her squeak/squawk/squeal repertoire.

Miracles Can Happen!

Katie is sometimes a hard nut to crack... Since we've brought her home, she has basically snubbed all of the usual baby accessories - swing, bouncy seat, vibrating seat, etc., etc. We just wrote it off to her unending independent spirit and thanked our lucky stars that we got most of the previously mentioned items for free (thanks Uncle Dave, Aunt Krystina and Grandma M!) Today, however, she miraculously sat in her swing for 20 minutes (!) while entranced by the TV. (I know, I know - bad Mommy.) Now if we could just get her to sleep in until noon...
